Padlet is fully integrated into NC State’s Moodle environment, allowing instructors to embed Padlets directly into course pages or assignments. This streamlines access for students and allows for consistent use across the learning platform.
This article provides an overview of adding a Padlet activity and accessing Padlet through Moodle, which also provisions an account for new users.
Padlet is a pre-configured LTI tool that can be added as an activity in any Moodle course. First, enable it by following the instructions in the "Managing LTI External Tools in Moodle" article.
Adding a Padlet board to a Moodle course will allow for access to that board, and creates new Padlet accounts for teachers or students accessing the activity.
There are a few key benefits to using the Moodle integration:
These features can all be configured in the Padlet board and in the settings of the LTI activity.
The process for adding a Padlet activity requires a board or sandbox to be created in advance. However, if an instructor has not accessed Padlet before, then there isn't an already-made board or sandbox to select.
Add the Padlet activity to the Moodle course to trigger account creation:
This will open the Make a Padlet page in a new tab, and create a new account. From here, the Padlet dashboard can be accessed, and instructors can log into Padlet using their NC State Google account.
Create new Padlet boards using Padlet's "Create a board from scratch" article.
After an account has been created through Moodle, and a Padlet has been created in the platform, the Padlet can be linked to Moodle.
To link a Padlet to Moodle:
This will connect the Padlet board or sandbox to the Moodle activity.
Grading the Padlet is done within the board or sandbox, which then enables grade sync between Padlet and Moodle. For more details about grading in Padlet, see Padlet's "Sync grade passback on Padlet to your LMS" article.
