The Grade history report in Moodle allows instructors to select and view the grading history for students, graders, and grade items based on a timeframe.
This article provides instructions on how to access and use the Grade history report.
Accessing the Grade History Report
The Grade history page is accessed from the gradebook. To access the report:
- In the course menu at the top of the main Moodle course page, select the Grades tab.
- In the drop-down menu at the top left of the page, select Grade history from the list.
The Grade history page will be shown.
Using the Grade History Report
The grade history report allows for an instructor to search for grade data by a wide variety of fields:
- Select users
- Search by specific users in the course, such as students or instructors.
- Grade item
- Search by a specific grade item, like a Quiz or other activity.
- Grader
- Search by a specific user who applied a grade to a grade item.
- Date from
- Search logs after a specific date.
- Date to
- Search logs before a specific date.
- Revised grades only
- Search for when grade data has been modified, rather than created.
After applying the relevant fields to narrow down the search query, click the Submit button to run the query.
After running the query, a table will be displayed with the following columns:
- Date and time, Name, and Email address
- This is identifying information about who the grade change affected, and when it was changed.
- Grade item
- This is the grade item changed, which could be an activity, category total, manual item, or more.
- Original grade
- The is the score given to the grade item before the change was made.
- Revised grade
- This is the score given to the grade item by the change.
- Grader
- This is the person who changed the grade item score.
- Source
- This is how the score was applied to the grade item, which is generally not relevant to instructors.
- Overidden, Locked, and Excluded from calculations
- This informs whether or not the grade item had specific conditions applied that change the state of the item in the gradebook.
- Feedback text
- This shows any feedback that was given to the grade item.
