How to reset Cisco Jabber


If when starting or using Cisco Jabber you may receive connection or communication errors such as:

If you have restarted and ensured your device is connected to the internet and continue to see the errors, then try resetting Cisco Jabber.

Make sure the user has a Jabber phone configured.  Have the user go to the UC Self-Service portal (go.ncsu.edu/self-service) to confirm 'Computer' and any other mobile device they would like to use Jabber on is 'checked'.

Reset Jabber

  1. If you are already signed in, click the user profile icon in the upper left of the Jabber window, and click Sign Out.
  2. On the sign-in screen, click Reset Jabber. Click Reset.
  3. To log in to Cisco Jabber, use unityid@ncsu.edu OR unityid@comtech.ncsu.edu. Click Continue.
    • Enter your Unity ID password.
    • Click Sign In.

After resetting Jabber, any personal settings you had previously set will be lost.  Be sure to review the audio, video, notification, and other settings to make sure Jabber is set up the way you prefer.
